Ice builds up on trees and power lines in interior New England
Monday was a classic case of cold air damming in New England. A coastal front moved far enough inland to allow the temperature to rise well into the 40s near the coast, while inland locations maintained a very light, chilly northeast flow to keep the temperature in the 30s. In fact, for most of the day the temperature was at or below freezing in parts of interior Massachusetts, leading to ice accumulation and some downed branches. The temperature was finally rising slightly above freezing in most spots by early Monday evening. Check out some of the pictures posted to Twitter and Instagram of the pretty, but dangerous ice.
