Historically low tornado activity in the U.S.

While there have been some pretty extreme weather events nationwide in the past year, the number of tornadoes in the United States during the past 12 months has been historically low. There were only 197 confirmed EF1 and stronger tornadoes between May 2012 and April 2013. That is 50 fewer tornadoes than the previous record low for 12 consecutive months.
