Southern New England rain totals September 3, 2013

A third consecutive day of locally heavy thunderstorms led to flash flooding and wind damage in parts of Southern New England on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Strong to severe thunderstorms developed over Long Island in the morning and moved northeast into Southern New England during the afternoon. The storms lasted until mid-evening on Cape Cod. Severe thunderstorms, along with a possible tornado, moved across Narragansett Bay into Bristol County in RI and MA. Locally heavy rain led to flash flooding in Southeastern Massachusetts, particularly on Cape Cod in the evening.
