The weather on the one year anniversary of Sandy will be in stark contrast to what the storm brought to the Northeast. High pressure moving in from the Great Lakes will offer plenty of sunshine and a light breeze. The wind will only be around 5 mph, which will be a welcome change from the gusty breezes of the past few days. It will, however, be rather cool, with high temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. Look for lots of sunshine from start to finish, with temperatures climbing out of the 20s to low 30s in the morning.
The weather will stay cool through the midweek. A weak disturbance moving through the Northeast on Wednesday may spread a few light rain showers into Southern New England. The odds favor a mainly dry day, with mostly cloudy skies and highs in the low to mid 50s. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy to mainly clear as the World Series shifts back to Boston for game six. The temperature will drop into the 30s by dawn Thursday.
Halloween is shaping up to be decent, with partly cloudy skies, an increasing southerly wind that reaches 10-20 mph, and the temperature rising into the 50s. The high temperature in the afternoon will be in the mid to upper 50s. It will settle into the low to mid 50s in the evening for trick or treating. A few, stray showers are possible by late in the evening.
A cold front stretching from Canada to Mexico will bring rain to the Eastern Seaboard Friday into the weekend. It does not look like the soaking rain that Southern New England needs, but showers are likely. Friday will be mostly cloudy, mild, and windy with passing showers. Highs will be in the 60s, and the wind could gust over 30 mph – especially near the coast. Showers may linger Friday night, with drier air moving in on Saturday. It will stay mild Friday night into Saturday, and, if everything times out just right, Saturday afternoon may be in the 60s with a blend of sun and clouds – not bad for early November!
Cooler air will arrive Saturday night, and it looks fair on Sunday into next week. We’ll watch to see if another disturbance develops in the vicinity of Southern New England on Sunday, but, right now, it does not look like that will occur. Highs will be in the low 50s with a gusty northwest wind on Sunday.
