Fall in SNE drier and cooler than normal

Meteorological fall (September through November) was drier and a bit cooler than normal in most of Southern New England. September and November were on the cool side, and October was relatively mild. For the season, Providence, Hartford, and Worcester all averaged between 0.6-0.8° below normal. Boston averaged 0.2° warmer than normal.

October, while relatively mild, was very dry, with Boston and Providence both recording the fourth driest October on record. Large rain storms on Labor Day weekend and just before Thanksgiving helped to skew the numbers. There was a long stretch of mainly dry weather between those two storms.
