The extreme weather pattern in the Eastern United States is remarkable. Record lows were falling in the Northeast Tuesday morning, and one of the most intense March storms on record in the Western Atlantic Ocean will form by Wednesday morning. It looks like a glancing blow for most of Southeastern New England as the hurricane-like storm slams into Nova Scotia by late Wednesday. The storm will be strong enough to shift the weather pattern a bit in the Northeast. Thursday looks chilly, but Friday and the weekend look closer to normal, albeit with the threat of rain.
Overall, the pattern for late March and early April will not be as cold, but I would not expect any big extended warm-ups, either. As explained in the video that was cut Monday night, high pressure over central and eastern Canada will help to keep it cool in New England during the first week of April. We are most likely done with snow, and that’s a step in the right direction!
